RAFT VOYAGE DOWN THE WANGANUI RIVER.—Mr Fred Cookson, the first man to make the 144-mile trip down the Wanganui river by raft, is shown before leaving Koriniti, about 30 miles from Wanganui. His raft is made of bamboo poles tied together with string and wire, with six inflated motor-car tubes for floats. Mr Cookson, who comes from Auckland, is 50 years old.
