DOUBLE FOR PAHIATUA
Chateau And St. Regnard "The Press* Spectai Service WELLINGTON, Jan. 7. More than half the field of twelve listed for the President’s Handicap, the principal event and first leg of the double at the Pahiatua Racing Club’s meeting tomorrow, did not race on Saturday, and it is likely that the winner will be one of the newcomers. The performance of the Taka* nini horse, Bali Ha’i, which has important engagements at the Wellington meeting, to begin on Saturday week, will be closely watched. The second leg of the double is the Rodney Memorial Hack Handicap. There was rain on Saturday night, but the weather has been fine since. Unless there is a break the track should again provide excellent going. Rubicon has been scratched for the Rodney Memorial. Of the horses with dual engagements, it is likely that Chattering will contest the Tararua Hack Handicap.
