TATTERSALLS CUP Monte Carlo’s Easy Win
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, January 1. The heavily-backed New Zealand favourite Monte Carlo had no difficulty beating his only two opponents in the Tattersails Club Cup at Randwick today. Field Chief beat Half Hennessy for second place. B. Howlett, on Field Chief, attempted to lead al! the way, but J. Thomson, on the dual Derby winner, Monte Carlo, always had his measure and went past him without any trouble. Half Hennessy, which won the Summer Cup brilliantly last week, showed disappointing form today and did not look a likely winner. Results:— FLYING WELTER HANDICAP, Of £1000; six furlongs.
