Dr. Oppenheimer
Sir,—On July 15, 1954, I sent a letter to your paper signed *Mary.” It relates to the fact that Dr. Oppenheimer, in defence of his loyalty, said that fragments of the “Bhagavad-Gita” rang through his mind. This extract was printed: “I am beyond death, the destroyer of worlds.” He met with the persecution that all do when they heed the inspiring voice. As we read in today’s issue that the verdict (of disloyalty) is likely to be' reversed, it will be more interesting to watch his future.—Yours, etc. M. G. DAVIES. December 31, 1957.
