PURCHASE OF AIRCRAFT
JAKARTA, Dec. 28. The newspaper “Sinpo” said today that the Export-Import Bank had agreed to extend credit to the Indonesian Government to buy three Lockheed Electra aircraft, each costing more than two million United States dollars. The newspaper, quoting Communications Ministry sources, said the agreement on credit was expected to be made formal in January. The four-engined turbo-prop aircraft will be used for long distance flights by Garuda Indonesian Airways. The newspaper also said that the Indonesian Government expected to receive in January three Convair aircraft, purchased some time ago.
In Tokyo, Japanese and Indonesian shipping representatives signed a memorandum on |basic conditions for the , Indonesian charter of 26 Japanese vessels. All the ships were promised by mid-February.
