VOGEL WINS AT MOONEE VALLEY

MELBOURNE, December 29. In a flying finish, the New Zealand horse Vogel showed great promise when he won the five .and a half furlong Regent Handicap for three-year-olds at Moonee Valley yesterday. One of the team of New Zealand bred horses owned by a New Zealander, Mr W. R. Kemball, Vogel beat the equal favourite. Two Crowns, by two lengths, with Burning Embers three-quarters of a length further back.
Although well back from the leaders at the top of the straight, Vogel finished in fine style, taking in 'all before him. Vogel showed promise as an early juvenile, but was not in the spotlight until a week ago when, at Moonee Valley, he ran a second.
Result: — REGENT HANDICAP Of £750. Five furlongs and a half.
