INDIAN EXPORTS TO N.Z.
I Mr Menon Hojjes For Increase The hope that New Zealand would import more goods from his country was expressed by the Indian High Commissioner in Australia and New Zealand (Mr P. A. Menon) in Auckland last week. Mr Menon se|d that he hoped New Zealand tzould both increase exports of Jarticles at present obtained from] India, and also seek other goods' l from that source. “The bulk of our Texports to New Zealand so far hive been in the jute and textile line,” he said. “iyow we are exploring the field for exporting such thihgs as electric sewing machines stationary diesel pumps and ei gines, and sporting goods.” The idea, said Mr 1 ffenon, was part of an export driv<=( which had so far pushed Indian exports beyond the normal Near land Middle East trading countries as far as Australia. He cited India’s present foreign exchange [crisis as a particular reason for I India’s desire to broaden Iler export markets. «
