SATURDAY (Before Mr H. D. Christie, J.P., and Mr C.-J. Forbes, J.P.) REMANDED
Derek Gordon Hair, aged 25, a seaman, charged with deserting from the overseas ship Athenic at Lyttelton on October 28, was remanded till today. Bail was refused.
A woman, whose name was ordered not to be published, was charged with secreting herself aboard a ship at Sydney without authority. She was remanded to January 16. Bail was allowed in the sum of £25. OBSTRUCTED POLICE
Neil Ernest Dempsey, aged 17, a timber worker, charged with wilfully obstructing Constable A. E. Arnold in the lawful execution of his duty on December 27, was fined £5.
Inspector J. C. Fletcher said that the accused was one of a crowd of youths who had congregated in Cathedral square on Friday night. When asked several times to move on. the accused objected and became obstreperous. DRUNKENNESS
