MOTOR-CYCLIST HITS HORSE
Fatal Accident At Grand Prix
(New Zeaiana Press Association) WANGANUI, December 29. A motor-cyclist was killed in the Junior Grand Prix at the Marton motor-cycle races yesterday when he struck a horse which had wandered on to the track. He was Manrice George Macdonald, aged 22, of Jervois street, Rotorua. The first half-dozen competitors managed to avoid the horse, but Macdonald, who was travelling at an estimated 80 to 90 miles an hour hit the animal on the shoulder. As spectators watched in horror and women screamed, Macdonald’s body was flung 30 feet from his machine. Macdonald died in the ambulance taking him to Wanganui Hospital. The horse was killed instantly.
