1600 Overseas Tourists In Auckland
rIVeJo Zealand Press j AUCKLAND, Dec. 27. Twp big overseas liners poured almost 1600 American and Australian tourists into a rain-swept Auckland within two hours this morning. Passengers from the Matson liner Monterey and the Orient Line’s Oronsay hurried off to tourist resorts or into the desolate city. Thq Oronsay’s 1250 passengers will have until 6 p.m. tomorrow to visit scenic spots from the Far North to Rotorua, before sailing op to Wellington. Time for the Monterey’s 336 passengers was short and preventer! trips far afield. The ship sailed for Sydney at 5 p.m. today. .
