PARTY TO FLY TO McMURDO

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 3. A party of New Zealander*, and the American Ambassador in Australia (Mr William J. Sebold' will travel to the Antarctic on Saturday from Christchurch in RearAdmiral George Dufek’s Sky master aircraft at the invitation of Mr S. D. Berger. Counsellor in the American Embassy in Wellington. Mr Sebold will arrive in Christchurch by air from Canberra on Friday to join the party. The following, in addition to Mr Sebold and Mr Berger, will be in the party: Mr V. E. Jaynes. Director of the Joint Intelligence Bureau; Mr J. V. Scott, of the Department of External Affairs; Brigadier L. W. Thornton, Adjut-ant-General of the New Zealand Army; Brigadier J. T. Burrows, officer commanding the Southern Military District; Commander L. G. Carr, naval assistant to the Second Naval Member; Mr B. R. Law, vice-chairman of the Ross Sea Committee; and Group-Cap tain P. P. O’Brien, Director of Organisation and Staff Duties. Air Department.
Ob To Call Al Wellington
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 3. The Soviet Antarctic research vessel Ob is expected to call at Wellington in February to pick up a Russian meteorologist flying tn New Zealand from Moscow, an official of the Soviet Legation in Wellington said today. The exact date of the vessel * arrival was not known, but she would be travelling to Wellington from Antarctica. Aboard her would be a meteorologist, Mr V. Rostorguev, who had completed his year’s term at the tattle America research station. In Wellington, the Ob would also take on coal.
