Antarctic Air Drops Nearly Completed
Vital air drops at the South Pole and Byrd station are nearly completed by United States Air Force Globemasters, according to a message received in Christchurch. They will start flying back to the United States shortly with wintering parties from the Ross Sea area. United States Navy Dakota aircraft have completed refuelling caches on the Byrd trail and will now transport men between the Byrd station, South Pole station. Little America, and McMurdo Sound. They will also fly support for the I.G.Y. traverse party and support other field studies being conducted.
