PROPOSED POLICE PROMOTIONS

(New Zeatana Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 3. The management committee of the New Zealand Police Association held a special meeting this morning to consider recent recommendations for promotion announced by the Controller-Gen-eral of Police (Mr S. T. Barnett). A statement by the general secretary of the association (Mr J. Meltzer) said: “Discussion centred on the possibility of a reference to the Police Council as a result of dissatisfaction said to exist in the force from recent recommendations. In the meantime the management committee has referred matters to the ControllerGeneral for clarification, and will meet again on receipt of these replies to consider the situation/’
