BATTALION FOR MALAYA
March Through Wellington
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, November 20.
The Ist Battalion, New Zealand Regiment, will march through Wellington shortly after midday on November 28, after an inspection and address by the GovernorGeneral (Viscount Cobham) at the Basin Reserve. The battalion is expected to sail for Malaya in the Captain Cook later the same day.
The Mayor (Mr F. J. Kitts, M.P.) will take the salute from the main steps of the Town Hall.
The Chief of the General Staff (Major-General C. E. Weir) said today that the battalion, with a strength of about 650 all ranks, would travel from Waiouru to Wellington by train on November 27, and would embark that day.
