AUSTRALIAN WIN AT PRETORIA
Added Popularity On Tour
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) PRETORIA, Nov. 19. The Australian cricket team’s box office appeal, which was at bedrock before the start of its South African tour, has already shown a sharp increase. For the rest of the tour, crowds are expected to equal if not exceed those of last season’s M.C.C. tour.
The Australians scored their fourth successive win by comfortably beating a South African eleven by an innings and 30 runs shortly before tea on the last day’s play today. A fine spell of fast bowling by the New South Wales all-rounder. Alan Davidson, aided Australia's victory. Needing 184 in its second innings to avoid an innings loss, the South African eleven was all out for 154,
giving Australia its fourth successive victory in four first-class games. The total attendance for this game exceeded that in the corresponding match against the M.C.C. last season by 2700. with the Saturday crowd of 15.000 setting a record for this ground. The Australians will leave on Wednesday for Durban, where they will play Natal—the last of the strong cricket provinces in South Africa.
