Easy Win Against Southland (New Zealand Press Association) INVERCARGILL. Nov. 20. The English women’s cricket team scored an easy win over Southland in a one-day match played in Invercargill today. Bundling out Southland for 25 runs, the tourists scored 202 for eight wickets before declaring. The bad weather which has dogged the touring team continued today, and play had to be abandoned because of rain after only two overs had been bowled in Southland’s second innings. Under the rules governing one-day cricket, the game will go down as a first innings win to England by 10 wickets, as it passed the Southland total without loss. The English bowlers were too difficult for the Southlanders to handle, and most of the English girls lost their wickets in forcing the pace. The top scorer for the tourists was J. Wilkinson whose 56 included six fours. She scored 96 with C. Robinson for the first wicket. Scores: — SOUTHLAND First Innings N. Pay. b Hawes 0 E. Rutherford, c Westbrook, b Barker 8 E.
