THE AMERICAN TEST SATELLITE.—Dr. J. P. Hagen, director of the United States satellite programme, points to one of the solar batteries mounted on the American test satellite at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington. The satellite, 6.4 in in diameter and weighing 4lb, will be sent into its orbit by a three-stage Vanguard rocket.
