FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT

Situation: An anticyclone is moving eastwards over the north Tasman Sea and a westerly airstream flows over central and southern districts of New Zealand. Forecast:—

West Coast: Fresh winds from a westerly quarter; weather changeable, with occasional showers, but increasing fair intervals; cool temperatures. Outlook: further showers. Canterbury: Moderate north-easterly winds on the coast, variable elsewhere; weather changeable, with passing showers. But considerable fair intervals; temperatures cool. Outlook: fair.

Nelson and Marlborough: Moderate winds, ’northerlies predominating: weather fair, apart from a few showers in the western ranges of Nelson; mild temperatures: Outlook: fair.
