SKY HIGH WINS AT SYDNEY
Sibelia Beaten In Spring Cup
Sky High, favourite at 5 to 2, won the £5OOO Spring Cup at Harold Park on Saturday night. Handily placed all the way she finished too strongly for Sibelia and won by a head. Both the winner and runner-up are by Sky Raider, Sibelia being a half-sistei to Petite Yvonne. First Variety, which like Sibelia started at 6 to 1. was handily placed all the way and held on for third. Mineral Spring made up a lot of ground for fifth and Radiant Venture finished sixth. Three New Zealand-bred horses in Tantalus. Lady Wexford and Magic Eve won on Saturday night. Tantalus <6 to 1) beat Main Power lin the Marrickville Handicap. Lady Wexford <2 to It beat another New Zealand-bred mare in Lilly Craig H to H in the Stanmore Handicap, and Magic Eye 15 to 2> beat the 40 to 1 chance King Mittons in the Petersham Handicap. Rushon, a half-brother by Admiral Harwood to Young Charles, won the Dulwich Hill Handicap.
Smoko. Susan Blue and Vapour Trail were New Zealand-bred horses to record minor placings.
