Inspector Supports Action

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, October 21. The action taken by the principal of Selwyn College (Mr N. N. Pitcaithly). in summoning police aid to stamp out pilfering at the school was supported by Mr A. Thom, senior inspector of post-primary schools in Auckland.

"When a crisis of that sort occurs, we will support every time a headmaster who uses modern methods to deal with it,” Mr Thompson said. “Petty pilfering occurs at times, even in the best-run schools. The only thing to do is to stamp it out as quickly as possible.

“I suppose Mr Pitcaithly. even if what he has done appears to psychologists too drastic. “It was the only thing he could do if he wanted to protect the integrity of his school.”
