TRADE MISSION TO AUSTRALIA

Project's “Excellent” Progress

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 21.

The committee set up to examine the proposal to send a New Zealand trade mission to Australia has made “excellent’’ progress, the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr E. H. Halstead) said today.

The committee includes representatives of the Associated Chambers of Commerce, the Manufacturers’ Federation, the Associated Banks, the radiata pine division of the Dominion Sawmiller’ Federation. the Wholesale Fish Merchants’ Association, and the Industries and Commerce Department.

Mr Halstead said details of the proposed visit would be made known to members of these organisations soon by their national secretaries.

The Government was interested to see the response to the idea. Mr Halstead said he hoped business men would avail themselves of the opportunity to investigate trade prospects in Australia and take part in a national effort to increase New Zealand's trade there.
