Police Patrol At Homes Parade
Uniformed police patrols will be provided for the 1958 Parade °f Homes site as soon as furnishings are put in the houses, according to a letter from the Christchurch Superintendent of Police (Mr D. N. S"grue) received by the Parade of Homes committed yesterday. A constable would be on duty at the site 24 hours a day, to guard against mischief and theft. th p letter said. “Last year we h"d a night Watchman but there were still thefts.” said the acting-chairman ( Mr O. E. Mitchell’ “If the public knows that a constable will be °n duty persons will have to be Pretty cheeky to break into the houses.” The committee decided to give fhe constable on duty the use of a house, and to ask all the builders to provide keys to their bouses for him.
