1958 PARADE OF HOMES

Site Inspected By Committee

Members of the Parade of Homes Committee yesterday afternoon inspected the site for the 1958 exhibition, in a 700-section Government housing subdivision off Rowan avenue. Wainoni. Kerbing has been laid, and footpaths marked out. The road through the site will be sealed before the parade is opened to the public. Yesterday afternoon, the area was deserted except for a surveyor and a member of his staff, and a gang of men digging a trench for a sewer.

Houses along Wainoni road bound the site on one side, and an area of scrub and lupins is on the other side. Apart from a little tussock, there is no vegetation on the sandy area. Each builder will be responsible for covering his section with soil. Parking Arrangements

At a meeting later in the afternoon, the committee decided to accept Speedway Parking, Ltd.’s, offer of the use of the Aranui speedway parking area for the week the houses are open to the public. Traffic will enter the area from Rowan avenue and will leave by Bexley road. No parking will be allowed in the parade area, and a track will be put through from the parking area to the houses.

An area will be set aside for the parking of exhibition vehicles.
