Easy Win For Native Cord At Forbury Park

Native Cord, which was beaten by a nose by Medetta at New Brighton last month at his most recent appearance, proved much too good for his opponents in the Churchill Handicap. Native Cord led Mercury Light by two lengths racing to the straight, from Royal Scot, Kevin. Jean Able, and With You, which broke soon after. The breaking Perekop and Egvptian Rose were handy. Native Cord did not look like being caught and he won by three lengths. Mercury Light, after being near lhe lead all the way. battled on for second, half a length in front of Egyptian Rose, which finished ver.v fast along the inside from the'middle of the field. Her placing was a good one. She was a length in front of Jean Able, with Gay Tune next, ahead of KM’in. Royal Scot and White Wings. Sprint to Suzendy Suzendy gave F. E. Newfield his second training success for the day when she beat the sprinters in the Victory Handicap She made a safe beginning from 24 yards and was in the middle of the field most of the way. racing to the straight, with Gay Alabama hemmed in on the inside of Elsinore. These five horses were well clear of the rest. Elsinore strode to the lead inside the furlong, but Gay Alabama took her measure in a few strides once she was pulled to the outside. Gay Alabama finished full of running and won easily by a length and a half Elsinore broke early and did well to hold on for second, six lengths in front of Crimson Star, which started from 48 yards. Compeer tired to fourth two lengths away, with five lengths back to Gay Bells, El Misti and Teremoana, which met trouble in the running. Keen Finish Victory Nelson, a good fourth in a similar race on the first day of the meeting, gained a narrow win in the Visitors’ Handicap, which provided a grand finish. D. J. Townley had Victory Nelson handily placed all the way. Super Brigade broke at the end of 50 yards, but he rushed round the field to taxe the lead at the end of three furlongs. Dame Sybil broke with seven furlongs left and she was pulled up Onawe Gets - Up Onawe trailed Captain Spider for most of the Welcome Handicap, but' he finished slightly better than the! pacemaker to win narrowly but well Captain Spider forced a solid pace most of the way. with the rest of: the field struggling to hold their positions some distance back. Racing to the straight Captain Spider had an advantage of half a length over Onawe. with about 50 yards to Indiana. which was leading a hopeless chase. Gentle Anna, Astrol and Tara, which broke, were handiest of the others.

Onawe drew up to Captain Spidei about the furlong post and soon established a slight lead. He fought on gamely and won by half a length. She was wel! dear of Gentle Anna, which shaded Tara and Astrol. with Swiss Admiral ahead of a tired lot.

Greymouth Rehandicap Wimpy has been rehandicapped to 36 yards in the Diggers’ Handicap, and 24 yards in tire Advance Handicap. at the Greymouth Trotting Club's meeting to be held on October 26.
