Nearly £l00.000 For 216 Bulls

(New Zealand Press Association) DANNEVIRKE, October 20.

A total of 246 pedigree Aberdeen Angus bulls fetched £93,723 at Dannevirks last week. Fortynine were quitted at a privatelysponsored sale on Thursday, while 198 changed hands during the New Zealand Aberdeen Angus Cattle Breeders Association’s annual sale on Tuesday and Wednesday. At Thursday’s sale 42 two-year-olds from the well-known Akitio herd realised 12.075 guineas. Buyers from throughout the southern portion of the North Island were present, and bidding was spirited at all times. The top price was 450 guineas, paid for a bull offered by Matapiro Station. Hastings. Only one other bull topped 400gns.

Among several overseas visitors to Dannevirkc during the week was Mr J. Barclay, a Scottish breeder.
