MAORI CLOAK FOR MAO

A Kiwi feather cloak was presented to the chairman of Communist China, Mr Mao Tse-tung “on behalf of the Maoris of New Zealand” last night, according to members of a Chinese-New Zealand friendship group now in China. Mrs Ramai Hayward draped the cloak round Mr Mao’s shoulders alter being presented to him while watching a fireworks display which wound up the eighth national day celebrations.
