On a greasy ground and in rain squalls, the Combined Services Rugby team yesterday easily defeated Poverty Bay by 23 points to s—a goal and six tries, to a goal. Poverty Bay enjoyed a territorial advantage in the first spell, trailing 5-6 at half-time, but in the second half the visitors’ forwards completely dominated the game. j For Combined Services, tries were scored by M. B. Farrington (2), N. Anderson (2), M. Kamau, and L. Varqaravi, and B. R. Caldwell. J. Rasmussen converted one. For Poverty Bay, D. Green scored a try and P. Cowan converted. At Tokomaru Bay, East Coast snatched a victory over Auckland colts by a try right on the call of time. The scorer was D. Moana.
