Indoor Bowls A. Williamson Wins Singles Title
A. Williamson, of the Pioneer elub, won the Canterbury Indoor Bowls Centre's singles title. He beat G. N. Taylor (U.F.S.) in the final. 19-7. Both finalists are two of the youngest players in the Canterbury centre. Williamson was recently run-ner-up in the New Zealand singles championships. Results:— Semi-final.—A. Williamson (Pioneer) beat E. G. F. Smith (Star of St. Albans. 9-«: G. N. Taylor (U.F.S.) beat R. Hogwood (Atlas). 10-6. Final.—Williamson beat Taylor, 19-7.
Spy Charge In Prague.—A Czech, Robert Netti, was gaoled for 12 years by the Prague Regional Court yesterday on charges of spying for Britain. Netti was. said to have banded British officials if! West Germany information about river traffic in Czechoslovakia and the cargoes carried by barges.—Prague, August 30.
