HAREWOOD BEATS SELWYN
Place Retained In Senior Grade Having won the second grade competition, the Selwyn, team met Harewood, which had finished last in the senior competition, on Saturday. According to the rules of the Canterbury Hockey Association the Harewood team was obliged to defeat Selwyn in order to retain its place in the senior grade, while a win to Selwyn or a draw would result in Selwyn being promoted in place of Harewood. Play was fairly even for most of the match, but Harewood gained the upper hand towards the end, and deservedly emerged the winner by 2 goals to 0. Tie defence of Harewood was too strong for the Selwyn forwards to penetrate. Harewood’s two goals were scored by R. Wear.
