Canon-Silver Spring Double

Silver Spring won the Duke of Gloucester Cup, the feature event and second leg of the double at the Eastern Southland Hunt Club’s annual meeting at Gore yesterday. The Rivertontrained Silver Spring was ridden by the young amateur horseman, Mr C. R. Knowler, who was having ijis first mount in a race.

The rider of Ettrick John tried to steal. the race and had a break of six lengths on the field at one stage. Ettrick John weakened when the pressure was applied a furlong from home, and Silver Spring came through to win with' something in hand. Davaar, Participation, and the favourite, Fault, finished in that order for the minor places. I The meeting was held in ideal conditions, and the track was easy. The attendance was good.
