Cage Falls Down Mine Shaft
(NZ. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, August 30. One man was killed and. seven others were seriously injured when a cage carrying them to the bottom of a mine shaft crashed 100 ft last night. The men were sinking a shaft at the new, £l2m Parkside colliery in Lancashire. Scaffolding crashed around the men as they were flung to the shaft bottom. Rescuers found the victims floating in several feet of water and brought them out after an hour.
