New Canal Site
Press Association — CopyriphtJ (Rec. 7 p.m.) WASHINGTON, August 30. Mr Herbert Bonner (Demo, crat North Carolina), chairman of the House of Representatives Merchant Marine Committee, told reporters today that his committee was going to have a special study made of where a second canal could be built to connect the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. The committee would hire experts to make the study as, he said, the Panama Canal was expected to be operating at capacity by about 1070. He said that present plans called for a sub-committee to visit Nicaragua, but this did not rule out the possibility that any place from Mexico to Colombia might be selected.
