ADOPTION OFFER RESPONSE
Father’s Letter To Newspaper (N.Z. Press Association —Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) SYDNEY, August 30. A remarkable response by sympathetic people has been made to a crippled father’s plea for someone to addpt his two daughters. Within twenty-four hours of the publication in Sydney of the father’s story of his fears for his daughters nearly five hundred offers to adopt them came from people in New South Wales, victoria, and South Australia. The father, a former serviceman, in a letter to the Sydney “Sun,” said that he had reached the point where he -could no longer look at ter his daughters, Jennifer, aged 13, and Janette, aged 11, since the death of their mother in February. He said that the two little girls washed, ironed, cooked, did the housework, and looked after him. “Before I die I would like Jennifer and Janette to have a good home,” he said. The adoption offers ranged from very wealthy houses to humble cottages.
