Pacific Ship Exercise
(Rec. 11 p.m.) CANBERRA, September 1. British merchant shipping will join units of the Australian, New Zealand’ and British navies in exercises to be held next week. The Minister of the Navy, Mr Davidson, said today that the exercise would be in merchant shipping control in waters between Malaya and Australia and New Zealand. It would begin on September 9 and would test shipping control, reporting, plotting, and communication organisation under wartime conditions. Shore establishments in Australia, Singapore and New Zealand would take part.
