Boy Found Dead In Creek
(New Zealand Press Association) NAPIER, September 1. A Maori boy was found drowned on Friday night, near a dam in a at Waiwhenua Station, about 40 miles north of Taradale, on the Taihape road. He was: Pirapi Tuhaka, aged 7, the son of Mr and Mrs P. Tuhaka, oi Waiwhenua. The boy is believed to have been walking across the 15in ledge of a concrete dam when he slipped down a spillway into a fairly shallow but boggy creek. He was found after a search of two hours and a half.
