More Births, Fewer Deaths Deaths notified in Christchurch for August were 33 fewer than in the same month last year. The total for the month was 228, compared with 261 in August, 1958. Births notified for the month, 422, were 12 more than in the same month last year. Detailed figures, with the figure for the same month last year in parenthesis, are:— Births, '.22 (410)? deaths, 228 (261); marriage notices issued,' 122 (133); marriages by Registrar, 21 (39). Figures for eight months are:— Births, 3194 (3064); deaths. 1485 (1506); marriage notices issued, 1072 (1088); marriages by Registrar, 228 (229).
