DISPOSAL OF SULLAGE
Approval To Use Street Channels Where difficulty is met in disposing of sullage on a section and where there is a reasonable assurance that a sewerage system will be available within a few years, the District Medical Officer of Health (Dr. A. Douglas) is prepared to agree to household sullage being disposed of in street channels. Reporting this to the Christchurch Drainage Board the works committee said that approval was also conditional on flushing points being installed in side channels so that regular and frequent flushing to clean the channels and dilute the discharges would be available. The board agreed that a copy of the letter should be sent to the Hoon Hay Residents* Association.
