LAKE ELLESMERE OPENINGS
More Funds Needed
This Year
The Soil Conservation Council will be advised, the North Canterbury Catchment Board decided on Friday, of the necessity for further funds for openings of Lake Ellesmere this year. Reaffirming its policy decisions on tenure of sections and reading, the board decided to advise the Kainga Settlers’ Association that some surplus funds from rents will be made available to assist with approved proposals. The expenditure of apy money Rn bank protection on a piece-
meal scale at Rakaia Island 1 was not recommended by the Soil Conservation Committee.
The removal of shingle from the Waimakariri river above the monument at Coutts Island was prohibited until further notice.
