Post-Primary Teachers
Sir, —The taxpayers, including many post-primary teachers, are grateful to the Minister for exposing the bluff that the teachers’ union were trying to put over. In spite of protestations to the contrary the meetings were called with a view to getting a pay increase by pressure. One sympathises with- men of unimpeachable integrity like Messrs Bull and Espinir, who have obviously not been aware of the schemes the people at headquarters have been hatching. They find themselves landed in an unpleasant situation." The profession has suffered a sad blow to its prestige by the tactics adopted by its unions headquarters. However, let all teachers now help and encourage recruiting in earnest by emphasising the advantages and not the disadvantages of the profession. —Yours, etc., FATHER OF FIVE. August 4, 1957.
