PLANS FOR EL KHOBAR

Chicago Races Press Association—Copyright) CHICAGO, August 2. A vigorous Chicago campaign has been laid out for El Khobar, the New Zealand thoroughbred. He arrived at Chicago this week from California with his trainer, W. J. Hirsch. “He will start in the 25,000 dollars Meadowland Handicap at six furlongs on grass on August 10,” Hirsch said. “If he does well, his next entry is the 50,000 dollars Arch Ward Memorial, at a mile and three-six-teenths on grass, on August 24.” El Khobar has won two of five starts in the United States and finished second last week in the Lakes and Flowers Handicap in California.

“That last race was encouraging,” Hirsch said. “I think it showed he is settled to American racing. He had to learn to start from a gate and to make sharp turns.

“He has always had speed, and now that he has learned the mechanics I think he is ready to win.”
