Good Win For Tenterhooks
(N.Z Press Association—Copyright) GOODWOOD (Sussex), Aug. 2. Lord Allendale’s Tenterhooks won the Goodwood Cup, run over two miles five furlongs, at Goodwood yesterday. Macip was second and Donald third. Seven ran. The Australian jockey, Arthur ("Scobie”) Breasley, rode three winners and a third in six mounts at Goodwood. He has had 103 winners for the season and is well in front in the English jockeys’ championship. Breasley’s winners were Amber Glass, 100 to 30 fayourite, in the first race, Davenport, 7 to 1 in the second, and Pipe of Peace, 6 to 4 on in the fifth. His mount in the Goodwood Cup, Dormello, was unplaced. He was third on the 100 to 30 favourite. Natural, in the third race. Result:— GOODWOOD CUP, Of £4025. Two miles and five furlongs. Lord Allendale’s TENTERHOOKS (Tenerani—-Sweet and Rough) 3yrs 7-10 .. .. E. Britt 1 M. Marcel Boussac’s Macip syrs 9-0 .. Serge Boullenger 2 Lord Rosebery’s Donald 4yrs 9-0 E. Mercer 3 Half a length; five lengths. Time: 4min 54 2-ssec. Starting prices: 2 to 1 favourite Tenterhooks; 5 to 2 Macip; 11 to 4 Donald.
