Heavy Rain In Northland
(New Zeaiana PreSs Association) AUCKLAND, August 4. Steady rain since yesterday morning has flooded farmland and blocked roads in Mangonui county. North Auckland. The and the Mangamuka highways, were cut this evening, and the East Coast highway, via Kaeo, was endangered by damaged approaches to a bridge hear Whangaroa harbour. From , 9 a.m. yesterday until 6 p.m. today 4.3 inches of rain had been recorded at Kaitaia aerodrome. Much floodwater lies around Kaitaia. No stock losses have been recorded. Prospects are for more rain. The two streams running through Kaitaia were bank-high tonight and there is some concern that houses on the flat might be flooded at high tide tomorrow* morning.,
