GIFTS TO SURF MOVEMENT

The gifts to the surf mpvement of a trophy by the GovernorGeneral (Sir Willoughby Norrie) and £2OO by Sir Anthony Eden will undoubtedly bring forth some discussion at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Surf Life-Saving Association. The New Zealand council’s decision to award the trophy to the association gaining most successes at the national championships should meet with general approval. The suggestion of the council to put the £2OO gift towards the cost of permanent headquarters for the movement may not meet with the same approval. Most surf clubs in the Dominion have financial worries, and many clubs feel it would be better to use this money to help club finances rather than put it into a building fund.
