Standard Of Singing
Sir, —After deep consideration
and hearing the Bach St. Matthew Passion performed in the Civic Theatre recently I would be interested to know whether the music critics of this city consider falsetto singing (which I have understood is the illegitimate child of tone) the highest standard. If they do, what is to become of the standard of singing in this country?—Yours, etc., CONCERNED. May 3, 1957.
