Overseas Reserves Rise Sharply
New Zealand’s overseas reserves rose sharply to £ 97.8 m in the fortnight to April 17, according to premilinary figures issued by the Reserve Bank. The latest figure is £9.7m above the figure for the same date last year and —for the first time this year—is higher than the comparable 1955 figure (about £96m.) The increase is mainly attributable to higher wool returns.
