ATHLETIC PARK RUGBY
Lack Of Spectator Facilities Judging by the fairly large crowd which attended the TechnicalLinwood Rugby match on Saturday, it is apparent that Athletic Park will prove a popular Rugby ground this season. The only defects in an otherwise notable occasion for Rugby in Canterbury, were the lack of some facilities for patrons and players alike. The playing area was highly commended by players, and spectators were treated to a good game without having to pay admission prices. They viewed philosophically the poor state of the stand but were critical of the lack of even a temporary score board, the absence of programmes and the unnecessary delays which occurred after stoppages through only two balls being provided. A heavy sporting programme in Christchurch on Saturday also placed a strain on the resources of the St. John Ambulance Brigade which was unable to provide a member for either of the two games at the park
