£24,970 FOR MARKET GARDENER
Compensation For Loss Of Land "The Press" Special Service AUCKLAND, April 19. In a final judgment delivered by the Auckland Land Valuation Court, compensation amounting to £24,970 has been awarded to an Auckland Chinese market gardener against the Auckland Metropolitan Drainage Board for the loss of an area of 51 acres 3 roods 18.3 perches of land acquired by the board under the provision! of the Public Works Act, 1928. The action, seeking £34,070 compensation, was brought last year by Ng Wai Shing and the estate of his late father. Ng Wul Hong. In an interim judgment given in December, the Court awarded compensation amounting to £24,038. The final amount decided upon comprised compensation, £24.038; interest, £790; witnesses’ expenses. £l4 8s; disbursements £3; and coSts, £125.
