UNIVERSITIES TOURNAMENT

Billets For All Competitors (New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, April 10. Students from Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and the two agricultural colleges arrived in Dunedin yesterday and today to compete in the annual Easter tournament, and all had beds to go to. The last contingent, the Auckland team, arrived by train at 5.30 p.m. today to be greeted by a band and student officials. The other teams arrived yesterday afternoon. Although the billeting officers have had anxious moments this week, they managed to find billets for all competitors. At the beginning of the week, they were 100 billets short and were preparing an emergency accommodation scheme. Yesterday they still needed 40 billets, but by the time the Auckland team arrived, sufficient beds had been found. The New Zealand University Students’ Association and the tournament committee both held meetings yesterday, and at 2.30 p.m. an official welcome was given to teams at the university. In the evening, the sports councils held their first meetings.
