Boxing WOMAN JUDGE BANNED
(N.Z. Press Association Copyright) SYDNEY, April 18. Mrs Gladys Mulcahy, a 40-year-old housewife, has been banned as a boxing judge in New South Wales.
New South Wales Amateur Boxing Association officials yesterday ordered her removal from a tournament judging panel in a Sydney suburb.
But Mrs Mulcahy, an ardent boxing fan, and probably Australia’s only woman judge in the sport, said: ‘‘lf I could not Judge as well as some of the men, i don’t want to be there.” Mrs Mulcahy had judged 15 bouts in a tournament before she was removed.
