MARCHING TEAM’S TOUR

Busy Programme In Australia (New Zealand Press Association) WANGANUI, April 16. Twelve members of the Wanganui Drum Majorettes marching team, with their staffs and lyres, coach, and a chaperon, will fly to Sydney on Tuesday next for a three weeks’ tour. Their ages range from 13J to 17. Backed by enthusiastic supporters, the Majorettes have collected £lOOO in eight weeks for the trip. The Majorettes will give a display march at the Sydney Royal Show, and a stage show at the Taronga Park Zoo, as of Sir Edward Hallstrom, president of the park trust. In Sydney they will hear plans made for them by the Victorian Police Band in Melbourne, and will also visit Brisbane. Mr L. E. Wright, the coach, said today that invitations to four places, including Adelaide, had had to be declined because of lack of time.
